Blannie S. Bunch

Blannie S. Bunch, 96, passed away Feb. 16, 2011 at Harbour
Point Rehab Center.  She was born April
15, 1914 in Murfreesboro, NC to the late Rev. Charles and Ella Askew.  She was predeceased by her only child,
Geraldine Jordan and two brothers, Chester and Archie Askew.  She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church,
Norfolk.

Ithelia D. Cuffee, “Fruity”, 54, of the 1000 block of Grandy
Court, passed away Feb. 15, 2011 in Chesapeake General Hospital. She was born
June 12, 1956 to Turner Debrow, Sr. and the late Marion L. Debrow in Norfolk
County. Ithelia was a graduate of Great Bridge High School, and was a faithful
member of New Weeping Mary Missionary Baptist Church until death. She retired
from the Ford Motor Company with thirty years of service as an  Assembly Line Worker.She is survived by her daughter, Ashley Debrow; three
sisters, Diane Tillett(John), Paulette Huggins(Tony) and Denise Debrow; one
brother, Turner Debrow, Jr.(Catrina); her aunt Sarah Lindsey; special friend,
Kenny Irvin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; her ex-husband Clinton
Cuffee.

Sarah Tompkins

Sarah Eugenia “Jean” Tompkins went to her heavenly home February 11, 2011. She was the fourth eldest daughter of Deacon Irvin Hendrick, Sr. and the late Deaconess Grace E. Hendrick. Sarah was educated and lived most of her life in Norfolk, VA. Sarah retired after 24 years of service with the Norfolk Public School System. She was a faithful member of Rhema Harvest Church in Virginia Beach, VA. She was predeceased by grandson, Gregory Perry, Jr.
Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband, Gary Pernell Tompkins; four children, Carnell Hendrick (Alveta), Felecia Wilson, Gary P. Tompkins (Mona) and Valjean D. Perry (Gregory); fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; nine siblings, Helen Ballard, Ruth Gilbert, Adell Hawkins, Gracie Williams, Juanita Carrillo, Irvin Hendrick, Jr., Susanne Turner, Charles Hendrick and Marcell Baugh.

Leo Cheek

Leo Caxton Cheek, 79, departed this life on February 11, 2011 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He was the son of the late Ulrich and Bessie Cheek from Halifax, NC. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ulrich Cheek and Edward Cheek; and one sister, Evelyn Walker.
In 1945, he joined the Merchant Marine as a Seaman and retired in 1991. In his spare time, Leo loved to fish, watch old movies, and spend time with his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Ruth Cheek; 6 children, William Shaw, Eleanor Shaw, Anthony Davis, Stephanie Obi (Sunday), Emma James and Bernadette Carter (Warren); two brothers, Earl Cheek (Josephine) and Vernon Eugene Ash; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Michael Patillo, 37, passed away Feb. 9, 2011. He was born Sept. 15, 1973 in Lynchburg, VA. He is survived by his wife, Diana Hadley-Patillo; two daughters, Laila and Alecia Patillo; one son, Devin Patillo; and a host of other relatives and friends.
